Spain regulator sees Madoff affecting 224 funds
MADRID, Dec 16 . - A total of 224 funds and
investment vehicles operating in Spain could have exposure to
Bernard Madoff's investment management business, Spanish stock
market regulator CNMV said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the CNMV said that according to the most
recent data available, the direct exposure of these funds to
Madoff was 106.9 million euros ($146.1 million) at October 31.
The regulator did not reveal the names of the funds
affected, but said 30 fund management institutions are involved.
New York-based Madoff Securities hedge fund is at the centre
of an alleged $50 billion fraud.
